So, I never made it to New Jersey. As a result, I have changed my ticket to make a stopover before I head off to...Turkey! While planning, I never considered baggage allowances on Europe's vast network of budget airlines. Alas, my backpack would be too heavy and I would spend truckloads of cash paying the overweight baggage fee. Sad!! So, I am opting for the Eurail pass, which will be way more awesome, and in the end, probably more cost-effective. I can possibly sleep on the train overnight, depending on where I am going, which will save money on a hostel. Plus, there are tons of other great perks. There must be a reason everyone travels by train in Europe! So, I will hit the 20 countries in the 3 month limit that the pass allows. I decided to start in Turkey because (a) it is not a Eurail pass country and (2) I found a relatively inexpesive ticket! I thought by going to Turkey, then Morocco, then Europe, I can see all the things I want, stop in Norway for some farming, and end up in the UK for work. Then I will have money for leg #2: Russia and China!
This seems to be the boring part of this blog--all these details! But it is my archive, really, of the whole process.
One week to go!
